The OMB-SER-488A transparent interface enables a device with either RS-232/422 or IEEE-488 to communicate with another device having the alternate interface. For example, an IEEE controller can communicate with an RS-232 printer or plotter via the OMB-SER-488A. Conversely, the OMB-SER-488A will enable a computer's RS-232 port to communicate with an IEEE printer or plotter. Built into the OMB-SER-488A is a 32,000 character data buffer which eliminates the need for the host computer to wait for slow devices to accept the data. Also available Is a converter with a 512K data buffer.
