What is the accuracy of the PX409 Series?

The PX409 Series has a high accuracy of ±0.08% BSL and includes linearity, hysteresis, and repeatability. To obtain their high accuracy and stability, the PX409 Series uses state-of-the-art digital mapping of the temperature, pressure, and output performance of the silicon sensor in conjunction with a custom ASIC to provide dynamic thermal compensation across the temperature and pressure parameters.

Is the PX409 Series suitable for any liquid and gas applications?

OMEGA piezoresistive pressure transducers have a proven record in high performance commercial and aerospace applications for over 25 years. The piezoresistive process and the construction of the PX409 Series provides a very rugged transducer with exceptional accuracy, stability, and thermal effects. The PX409 Series is all stainless steel (316 SS) wetted parts. Please ensure the media under measurement is compatible with wetted parts.

What is the power supply for the PX409 Series?

The power supply of the PX409 Series depends on the output of the chosen model and power supply fluctuation protection is standard on all models. Please refer to the table below for details.

    Output Model

    Power Supply

    0 to 5 Vdc

    10 to 30 Vdc@10 mA

    0 to 10 Vdc

    15 to 30 Vdc@10 mA

    4 to 20 mA

    9 to 30 Vdc

    10 mV/V

Ratiometric 5 to 10 Volts DC

    Is the PX409 Series calibrated?

The Px409 Series are calibrated using extremely high accuracy equipment and a 5-point NIST traceable calibration certificate that is included with each transducer. It is recommended that the sensor be recalibrated once a year. The most popular ranges and configurations are stocked for immediate delivery. All others typically have a very short lead-time.

How can I install a PX409 Series in a pipe? Does it need a specific orientation (vertical or horizontal)?

The PX409 Series has a ¼ - 18 NPT male fitting that is threaded into a pipe fitting for installation. There is no specific orientation needed – the unit is calibrated in the vertical direction with fitting down. The sensor is designed to be quickly customized to meet your exacting specifications, often with fast delivery.

I would like to purchase the Item# PX429-001GI, which shows a pressure range of 0-1 psi. How can I determine the resolution (ie x.xxxx psi) for the pressure reading that I will be able to get from the transducer?

    Asked by: Briananana
This would depend on how small of a signal change the instrumentation you are using to read the signal can detect.

We want to purchase the PX429-100AI ( Part number : MMA100C1P1C1T3A4). Could you confirm that the Twist Lock Cable CA-6PC24-5-015 is the correct one for this sensor? Also if the connector PT06F10-6S can fit too ? If yes what type of cable we need ?

    Asked by: Clement
These sensors are a 2-wire loop powered device. The best cable assembly to use would be CA-2PC24-1-015. It cable only has two wires (Red and Black) attached to the appropriate terminals inside of the mating connector. The PT06F10-6S connector will work with these sensors if you intend on making up your own cable assembly. A 24AWG two conductor shielded cable like our TX2-200 cable would work with this connector. The smallest spool of this cable we offer is 200 feet of wire. BELDEN sells wire similar to this. You should be able to find shorter lengths on the internet.

We have purchased pressure transducer model PX409-050G5V and process meter model DP25B-E. I have the User's Guide for DP25B-E meter, which diagram in 3.4 Connecting Sensor Inputs, should I use to wire up the transducer to the meter?

    Asked by: Tony54
The PX409-050G5V is a 3-Wire DC Voltage Output sensor. You should use Fig. 3-6 to wire the sensor to the DP25B-E. The DP25B-E S1 DIP Switches should be set for a unipolar 0 to 10VDC Input range and 12VDC Excitation power. The Red wire connects to Terminal#2. The Black wire connects to Terminal#1. The White wire connects to Terminal#6. A jumper wire must also be installed between Terminals #1 and #7

I have a PX409-3.5KGUSBH model transducer that currently reads absolute pressure. Can I calibrate the transducer in house to read relative gauge pressure instead?

    Asked by: aaron1230
Thank you for your inquiry While the construction of a gauge or absolute sensor is fundamentally different, in this case where your sensor has a range of 3,500 psi A is so large it should be fine. This issue is that an absolute sensor has no way to react to changes in atmospheric pressure like a gauge sensor does. The typical worst-case limits in atmospheric pressure changes (if you don't change your elevation) are between 13.5 – 15.0 psi, or about 1.5 psi, this is only (1.5/3500*100) = 0.04% FS change for the sensor, smaller than the error band! You can safely ignore atmospheric pressure changes for this device and offset your device to represent a gauge pressure reading. hope this was helpful?

is the USB pressure sensor communication documented so it can be used with a language like LabVIEW? i would expect it shows up as a serial port and has a communication protocol to read values.

    Asked by: VSI_
Thank you for your inquiry, Omega doesn’t support LabVIEW, but customers have told us they use our USBH sensors with LabVIEW : The easy-to-use ASCII data protocol of the USBH sensors can be handled with a standard LabVIEW VI like: Basic Serial Write and Read.vi. (While Omega gladly provides support for our .NET API, we cannot provide support for implementation as a part of LabVIEW). ). Asked by: Anonymous
There are two versions of the PX409 Pressure Transducers. One version as an analog output of millivolts, Voltage or Current. The other version has a high speed USB output. It appears you have the analog output version with would not have a USB connect on it. You would need to purchase a new PX409 with the part number ending in USBH. This unit has an attached cable with the USB connection on the end
