The FMC-5000 Coriolis Mass Flow Meter is designed according to the Coriolis Force Principle. It is widely used for flow measurements and custody transfer in many industries such as petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, food and dairy, and more. As an advanced flow and density measurement instrument, it is widely used in the measurement of liquids, gases and slurries, and garners a high reputation among customers around the globe. Coriolis meters are typically used in applications like batch control, blending, filling, dosing, custody transfer, process gas measurements, and more.

The FMC-5000 Series Coriolis Meter is designed according to the principle of Coriolis force. Under the alternating current effect, the electromagnetic coils mounted on the measuring tube will make two parallel measuring tubes vibrating at a certain fixed frequency. Whenever mass (either liquid or gas) flows through the measuring tubes, Coriolis force is generated, causing a “bending” or “deflection” in the top of the tubes. This deflection is sensed as a phase shift between two electronic pick-ups mounted on the tubes. The degree of phase shift is directly proportional to the mass flow within the tubes. The mass flow rate can be calculated by detecting the phase shift of the tubes. The temperature is also measured and used for compensation.

I see that this meter can measure liquids with a little air in them, is that true in the case of other gases? ie. A majority of liquid CO2 with some CO2 bubbles? If not, could you recommend a high accuracy meter that could?

Asked by: JH925
Thank you for your inquiry with the Coriolis flow meter. It is ideal that the media being measure is a single phase, not a mixture and it can affect the accuracy when measuring. All of Omega's flow products are calibrated to measure single phase medias.

What process controller should I use to interpret the signal from the FMC-5201LA to display liquid density and send a 4-20 mA output to an exterior device?

Asked by: deazwe
Thank you for your inquiry! Something like our platinum series devices could be used to fulfill the needs of this application. Please contact us at flow@omega.com so that we can better tailor the instrument to your process.

If we were to use this as a totalizer for batches, is there any built-in totalizing option? or would this have to be done in a plc? and if so, im assuming the pulse output would be something specific like "1 litre per pulse" ? is it adjustable? Thank you

Asked by: Joel_123
Thank you for your inquiry about this flow meter. Yes, it has a totalizer function and can be reset per batch if you wish.
