Chemical Set Cements set or cure by an internal chemical action which does not require exposure to air. Chemical Set Cements can be used in thick applications (applied in thicknesses greater than 1/4")*.

SELECTION CRITERIA FOR CEMENTS
1. Type of Application –Potting, sealing, encapsulating, assembling, bonding. Is a thick or thin film of cement required? This dictates whether or not an air set or a chemical set cement can be used.
2. Thermal Considerations –What is the maximum temperature that the cement must withstand? What degree of thermal conductivity is needed? What degree of thermal expansion is allowed? These properties are then matched to the appropriate cement.
3. Solvent – 10% Sodium Hydroxide. However it’s difficult to remove cured cement.
4. Substrate – What materials will the cement be in contact with?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but has limitations you have to consider Works well, good adhesion. The grain size is fairly large so it can’t get into very fine gaps. This cement destroys glass fiber insulation on thermocouple wires which I found out only by wrecking several new thermocouples. I wish Omega would have indicated that before I wasted the time and money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Repair of Green Egg diffuser Easy to follow instructions. Cement set up in advertised timeframe, and so far has held together well under high and long heat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good properties I bought this for thermalcouple application and works good. Just be sure to purchase measurement tools to get the mixture correct (80/20 by weight). Once I was able to mix correctly the product works good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable Thermocouple Epoxy This Epoxy is an economical solution for affixing Thermocouple/Strain Gages. We have used it over and over for several years. Never had any issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fiber panel testing Worked fine 2" above a 650C hot pipe, and kept my Thermocouples attached to fiber parts

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great High Temp Bond Did the job mounting thermocouples to plates to measure rocket engine jet plume temperatures.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product We use the cement to pot small volumes, about 5-10cc. Highly recommend using a vibrating plate to use the cement. Baking to remove excess water is highly recommended

Hello is this for use on heavy steel pipe used for exhaust on barrel incinerator

Asked by: Jkm81
Thank you for your inquiry. I do not recommend this product for your application. Try OB-700.

Can this be used to bond copper sheet to plywood on an exterior application? Does it have instant bonding, like a normal contact cement? Or does it need to be clamped during cure time?

Asked by: Holeshot
Thank you for your inquiry. The OB-100 & 101 can adhere to metals and wood.

Is this cement used in the same applications as resin? Can it be used in making fiberglass and carbon fiber materials and parts?

Asked by: Maunty
Thank you for your inquiry. This cement is not used for the applications you listed.

Can the CC High Temp be installed on a hot pipe? Our operating temperatures can be 500 degrees F which this cement is good for that, but it does not specify if you can install it on a live, hot, pressurized pipe?

Asked by: AndyS
Hi Andy S, Thank you for the inquiry. Please forward this question to TEMP@DWYEROMEGA.COM. Best regards, OMEGA

Is OB-700 (or any of the chemical set cements) corrosive (alkali or acidic) during curing? Can it be applied directly to a PCB and once fully cured/set should have no effect?

Asked by: Application Engineer AW
The best course of action would be to access the SDS on Omega's website and review the chemical composition. Customers have used the product on PCB's without any feedback of negative affects.

Can I mount thermocouples (30 AWG bare wire probes) on a silicon carbide wafer surface? The surface is similar to glass or silicon and the joint must be roughly 5 mm in diameter. Also silicon surfaces are of my interest. Thank you

Asked by: Giorgio AST
Bonding the Thermocouple to the Silicon surface with one of the cements or epoxies would be fine just stay away from the OB-600 which isn't good for smooth surfaces.

Is the cement food safe? I’m wondering if I can use it on the base of a wood fire pizza oven to fill cracks and craters. Will it stand extreme heat? And is a pizza coming in direct contact with it while the pizza cooks okay?

Asked by: Pizzaboss
Thank you for your inquiry. This cement is for industrial and manufacturing use only, and does not have any food safety ratings and should not be in contact with any food. All temperature ratings can be found under the OB-600 specifications on our website.

Does Omega have an estimate or reference for the thermal/infrared emissivity of Omegabond OB-600 cement?

Asked by: DPH4
Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately we do not have any emissivity data for our cements.
