The OS136 series has been discontinued. Please see the OS136A as a possible alternative or contact our Temperature Engineering department.
OMEGA's new miniature, low-cost,
high performance infrared
sensor/transmitter model OS136
features a 19 mm (3/4") O.D. by
89 mm (3.5") long stainless steel
NEMA-4 housing. This mini
transmitter is ideal for applications
that require measuring temperature
in hard-to-reach, confined or harsh
environment areas. The OS136
comes with a 1.8 m (6') shielded
cable for power and output connections. Models feature
industry standard outputs that
provide easy interfacing directly to
all meters, controllers, dataloggers,
recorders, computer boards and
PLC’s. The fixed emissivity of
0.95 allows for quick and easy
measurements requiring no
adjustment during installation

Nice response, simple and cost effective unit.I have only used the sensor a couple of times, but it seems to work as well as expected. Response time is good, accuracy seems to be within rated specs. No complaints after ~1 month of intermittent use. One negative is that the mounting nuts are quite small and tricky to thread initially. I am used to optical tachometers which use larger, beefier hardware.
Also, my unit was on backorder for about 2 months before it finally shipped to me.

Reasonable performance & durabilityThis has been in service for over two years now in a fairly extreme process environment. Other than the mounting nuts coming loose a couple of times, it has performed as expected.

Good price for the performanceUsed in outdoor data collection. Has stood up to some abuse. Easy to wire up like K-type thermocouple.
