Description
The FDT-25 handheld ultrasonic flowmeter is designed to work with clamp-on transducers to enable the flow of a liquid within a closed pipe to be measured accurately without needing to insert any mechanical parts through the pipe wall or protrude into the flow system.Using ultrasonic transit time techniques, the FDT-25 is controlled by a micro-processor system which contains a wide range of data that enables it to be used with pipes with an outside diameter ranging from 15mm up to 6000mm (depending on model) and constructed of almost any material. The instrument will also operate over a wide range of fluid temperatures.
FDT-25 comes complete with:
1 ea. Handheld Ultrasonic Flow Meter
2 ea. Standard Clamp on Transducers for Pipe Sizes 3/4" to 4"
2 ea. Transducer Chains
2 ea. Transducer Clamps
1 ea. 3M Ruler
1 ea. Acoustic gel for Standard Transducers
1 ea. Universal Power Adapter/Charger
1 ea. RS232 Computer Cable
Transducers for larger pipe sizes and extended temperature ranges are available in the Accessories Section for an additional charge.

Poor Submenu for Compatible Transducers
Plenty of positives to the meter. The biggest downfall is that the compatible transducers are not listed in the transducer type submenu. There is no reason for this to be a confusing process but this submenu in particular is terrible.

Decent Portable Flow meter
The flow meter is decent. But the manual is sorely lacking. I had to look up youtube videos because it doesn't tell you anything about applying the gel, or the chain or anything. I don't understand how to use the chain. It should have come with straps to keep the magnets in place because they tend to slip on a vertical pipe. Other than that the flow meter seems to work ok, but I was not very sure how accurate the flow is.

If you do not perform a traceable calibration, who does?
Thank you for your inquiry. We do not have any specific lab recommendations. Any flow calibration lab local to you should be able to provide you the cal report for your process conditions.

1. what is the transducer chain used for? 2. Can data be exported to excel sheet and if so how? Is something additional required? Can system be used to record total GPM and peak GPM over the course of a week if you plug it in instead of using battery
Thank you for your inquiry, about the ultrasonic flow meter. It is used to secure the transducer in place, especially, for larger diameter pipes and the RS232 can be extracted into a an Excel file. We provide the document after the fact and only records flow rate and is not live streaming.

DO YOU HAVE A BRACKET TO HOLD BOTH TRANSDUCERS THAT HAVE A RULER ON IT
Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, no we do not have a bracket like this.

Can this flow meter be used in an application where the pipe that we want to measure flow was submerged in water?
Thank you for your inquiry about the ultrasonic flow meter. Unfortunately, the transducers that wrap or strap around the pipe cannot be submersed in water in general. It will be deemed useless and not transmit any signal.

How do suspended solids in the flow affect the accuracy of this meter?
Thank you for your inquiry about the ultrasonic flow meter. If there is suspended particles greater than 100 microns and 100 ppm in concentration at all times, then, we highly recommend the Doppler style ultrasonic flow meter. If it is intermittently flowing thru the flow meter, it will not hurt the accuracy since it will average the flow when it updates.

Does this meter work with Deionized Water?
Thanks you for your inquiry. There is no issue with using this meter with deionized water.

What is the physical size (dim) for the standard transducers?
Standard transducers size approximation: 6 x 3 x 3 mm

How do I export the data logger info to an excel file?
Thank you for your inquiry about the ultrasonic flow meter. Please email flow@omega.com and can provide the documentation to review to download the data from the flow meter.
