Truly a Rugged ThermocoupleTruly a rugged thermocouple. Our testing unit puts these probes through some extreme heat and harsh conditions with exposure to the process. They have not let me down yet!
can these probes be bent? will bending them effect the readings?
Asked by: Daniel246
Hello and thank you for contacting Omega. Yes, we can confirm that these probes are bendable to 90 degrees and that the bend will not affect the readings. We suggest a bending radius of 0.33” or larger. Please contact our Tech Support if you have any further questions.

How to determine accuracy of TJ36-? Not sure if listed special limits apply. Multiple configs: K or J, 316SS, varied sheath diameter & length, standard wire/length, grounded, SMPW-M, single & dual probes
Asked by: SpecialStandard
Thank you for your inquiry SpecialStandard. The accuracy (tolerance) is determine by the Special Limits of Error according to the ASTM E230-ANSI MC 96.1. Please check the following link in page H-2 for the thermocouple tolerances for each thermocouple: https://assets.omega.com/landing-pages/colorcodes/tc_colorcodes.pdf. The tolerance only applies to probes.

Am I able to install these into an exhaust stream with temperatures up to 1450 F without a thermowell?
Asked by: Nick2020
Hi Nick. That should be no problem although the if you want the added protection a thermowell with a threaded bushing would work.

I am looking at a T-type immersion, 304 SS, 1/8" dia, grounded TC. But looks like it is giving me only 40" cable length option. On picking up a 120" or 240" length it gives error saying compatibility issues. Please advise

While the measurement point measures 1000 degrees, can there be a heat transfer to the transient point?
In transient point, are there any protection for this?
Asked by: Guli
Hi Gull,
Thank you for this inquiry. There is no protection built in for the transition point. Alternate is to provide enough length for the sheath so that heat transfer across the tubing is small enough to be safe.
Best regards

Do the ungrounded TCs have any electrical isolation rating?
Asked by: DT27
Thank you for the inquiry. We do not offer an electrical isolation rating for our ungrounded thermocouples.
