OMEGABOND™ epoxy and OMEGATHERM™ thermal conducting paste are easy to use epoxies and silicone products. They are specially formulated for permanent bonding of thermocouples, thin film RTDs, thermistors and other temperature sensors, to most surfaces–metals, ceramics, glass, plastics, paper products. OMEGABOND™ and OMEGATHERM™ products are compounded and packaged for convenient, easy mixing and application. Each formulation exhibits important characteristics necessary for accurate, fast, reliable temperature measurement. These are: good adhesion and strength, high temperature rating, high thermal conduction, high electric insulation, thixotropic consistency, fast cure, and easy application.

OB-100 is available in 1/4 oz or 1 oz Twin Packs and 1 lb as 2 cans, 1 of resin and 1 of hardener.
OB-101 is available in 1/2 oz or 2 oz Twin Packs and 1 lb as 2 cans, 1 of resin and 1 of hardener.
OB-102 is available in kits for 16oz resin/1 oz catalyst, 2oz resin/1/2 oz catalyst, and 1/2oz resin/1/2 oz catalyst.
OB-200 is available in a 2 oz Twin Packs or 1 lb as 2 cans, 1 of resin and 1 of hardener.
OT-201 is available in 1/2 oz or 2 oz Twin Packs or in cans as 1 lb or 2 lb (two 1 lb cans).
 

“Twin pak” packaging is supplied to ensure the user with accurate proportioning of resin and catalyst, as well as to provide a clean, fast means of mixing. The “Twin Pak” is a flexible, transparent plastic pouch, separated into two isolated compartments by means of a removable external divider. In one compartment is the resin, the other the pre-measured catalyst. To use, remove the divider, mix the two components by kneading the pouch, then snip off a corner to dispense. Each “Twin Pak” comes with an instruction sheet, enclosed in a clear, heat-sealed plastic envelope.

Please note that once mixed, the OB-100, OB-101 and OB-200 epoxies have the following "Working Times" (also referred to as "Pot Life"):

OB-100: Less Than 8 Minutes at Room Temperature
OB-101: Approximately 30 Minutes at Room Temperature
OB-102: Approximately 45 minutes at Room Temperature
OB-200: Approximately 24 Hours at Room Temperature

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Formula changed! We use this epoxy weekly and have been buying it for many years. However, the last batch we purchased was a gel formula instead of the liquid we have become accustom to. Do no like it very much as it is difficult to fill a syringe and use it in the field.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Omegabond 101 I have been using OB-101 in the small packs for several years now to bond the printed circuit board to the frame/case, which as also the heat sink, on automotive Engine Control Modules manufactured with surface mount components. It withstands thermal expansion and contraction, and vibration, while also being a good thermal conductor and yet a good electrical insulator. Shelf life is substantially longer that what is marked on the packets.

We have been using this epoxy for many years and have not experienced any issues with the exception of the more recent texture difference with part A. It used to be smooth and now it is more chunky and dry, making it hard to measure. By warming it up beyond room temperature, we are able to soften it making it easier to portion. This extra step takes away 1 star. The service the company provided is excellent with order follow through and general customer service.

I have used this for several years on automotive ECM's where SMD power transistors and switches are soldered to the PCB, which is then attached to an aluminum case for heat dissipation. This a requires a product with good thermal conductivity with a high dielectric rating. It has a very smooth and easy to spread consistency, and a good balance of pot life v.s. cure time.

Is OMEGABOND 101 Two Part Epoxy good for potting electronics? How well does it handle thick layers and or voids between adhered surfaces? How thick/viscus is the epoxy as you work with it?

OMEGABOND®100—a fast (8 to 12 minute setting time), room temperature, two-part epoxy. Recommended for easy temporary and permanent bonding of beaded wire and “cement-on” thermocouples. Adheres to metals, ceramics, epoxy laminates, glass, wood, concrete and many other materials—for temperature measurements up to 129°C (265°F). It is not recommended for those endeavoring to achieve the ultimate in precision and speed of response, since this unfilled system has a relatively low thermal conductivity.Temporary installation of beaded wire thermocouples can be achieved by using a very small amount of OMEGABOND® 100 to tack the bead to the surface and packing OMEGATHERM® 201 around the exposed surface to improve heat transfer. This clear syrup consistency—100% solid adhesive — contains no solvents and has good strength and electrical insulation characteristics. Note: The working time after mixing the 2-part system at room temperature is only 6 to 8 minutes. OMEGABOND 100 is available in “Twin Pak” packs and 1- and 2-pound kits. For larger gaps, up to 1/4", review the OB-400 High Temperature Air Set Cement.

What is the shelf life and optimal storage conditions for OB-101-1/2 packs? The standard 101 manual says 70F and one-year shelf life if container remains sealed. Just looking for clarity for the art packs.

Can any of the omega bond thermal epoxies cure at room temperature?

Thank you for your inquiry Apz24. The OB-100 and OB-101 cure at room temperature. The OB-100 has a cure time of 8 to 12 minutes set at room temperature. The OB-200 has to cure at elevated temperatures. The OT-201 does not have a required cure time.

What is the average thermal conductivity value for the OB-100? I can not find it in the data sheets.

Thank you for your inquiry! There is no listed value for the OB-100 as it is the only OB product that is not designed to be thermally conductive. If improved thermal conductivity is desired the OB-100 should be paired with the OT-201

The upper rating is 392F for OT-201 and Omega does not recommend using it above that temperature. The characteristics can be altered and the material will no longer perform as specified.

Is OMEGABOND 201 Epoxy and OMEGATHERM 201 Silicone Paste safe for use in a vacuum? What about exposure to Oxygen?

The OmegaBond epoxy should be fine in a vacuum as long as it has been properly cured. The silicone paste OmegaTherm 201 however, does not harden and would not be the best choice to be used in a vacuum. What is the minimum temperature for this adhesive? I am looking for an adhesive to attach heaters to a surface that could experience temperatures down to -200C. Would the adhesive still work at these very cold temperatures?

Hi, I am using the epoxy OB-101. From you website, the mix ration by weight was 1:1(A:B); and from downloaded manual M0064, the mix ratio by weight was 1:1.8(A:B). Could you let me know which one was correct? If I used wrong mix ratio, what's the issue?
