OMEGA’s PX309 Series Stainless Steel Pressure transducers below 100 psi use a high accuracy silicon sensor protected by an oil-filled stainless steel diaphragm. Units 100 psi and above use silicon strain gages molecularly bonded to the stainless steel diaphragm.

We provide a complete range of services—from product inception, through design and prototypes, to manufacturing and testing. Our application engineers work closely with our customers to customize, design or create entirely new products. Call us—whether you’re an OEM, manufacturer, or end user.

Date published: 2023-07-09
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Low Pressure (Vacuum-like) Measure I am using this item and it works great for vacuum like condition. Small range enables me a very good resolution. I have compared it with other gauge up to as low as 5 Pa. At low pressure (<100Pa), expect a range of variation between high and low of 20 Pa. If you are using for an application with higher sensitivity then I wont recommend it. But for my application that's acceptable. So it works great.

What is the input impedance and output impedance of the PX309?

Asked by: JWeng
We do not provide the input/output impedance for the PX309 0 to 5VDC output units. The impedance can widely vary due to the internal components used in the each sensor.

What is the difference between a compound gauge and absolute gauge?

Asked by: jackie270
The compound gauge are measuring a vacuum or positive pressure relative to the atmospheric pressure. The unit has a vent to atmosphere for the reference. The absolute gauge units measure pressure relative to an internal sealed vacuum reference.

There are 4 output options"4-20mA, 0to5V,0to10V, and 'mV output'. What I want is a real time dynamic output of the instantaneous pressure level. I know this much:4-20mA does NOT do what I want. Do any of the others match my description?

Asked by: B3arKat
The response time of the mV/V and DC Voltage output PX309 transducers is approximately 1 millisecond. While the response is fairly quick these units are designed for static pressure measurement. There are dynamic pressure sensors that are of piezo-electric design the have a response in the microsecond range. Omega does not offer this type of sensor

The O'ring is necessary to install PX329-100G5V? What is the torque rage to install the PX329-100G5V?

Asked by: ksmaia
There is no O-ring used on a NPT fitting. You would typically use teflon tape (plumber's tape wrapped around the threads before you install it into the mating female thread connection. You do not torque a npt fitting. You would hand tighten the connection and the use a wrench to tighten it just enough so it doesn't leak

where is the atmospheric reference port located? is it insdie the electrical harness?

Asked by: Dan M
All PX309 (gage and absolute) use a vented cable. Gage PX309 sensors up to 500 PSIG must be terminated in a clean dry area that is open to atmosphere for correct operation. All other sensors (> 500 psig and all psia ranges) must be terminated in a dry area but do not need to be vented to atmosphere. These cables should be sealed (e.g. RTV) to protect the sensor from moisture getting in to the sensor through the cable. All PX319 are vented through a hole in the connector and through the mating connector. A vented cable must be used for low pressure gage sensors up to 500 PSIG and must be terminated in a clean dry area that is open to atmosphere for correct operation. The gasket for the DIN mating connector has a special stiffener (included) between the mating surfaces and is used to maintain the IP65 rating (Spare Gaskets are Part number P002612). Search cable assembly CA-319 with a “WP” on the end for gage pressure under 500 psi. All other PX319 sensors can use standard cable without the “WP” but must be terminated in a dry location or sealed to prevent water from getting into the cable/sensor. All PX329 are vented through Pin F of the twist-lock connector. Gage PX329 up to 500 PSIG must be vented for correct operation and must use the connector PT06V-10-6S-R which has no socket on pin F. Cables for these sensors must use a vented cable, be sealed at the back of the mating connector and be terminated in a dry clean area open to the atmosphere. Search cable assembly CA-329 with “WP” for gage pressure under 500 psi. All other PX329 can use the standard PT06F10-6S-R connector or cables (See cable assembly CA-329 without “WP” ending).

What is the supply current on the PX309 whose output is 100mV?

Asked by: Lourrany
We cannot provide a fixed value for the current draw of the 100mV output version of the PX309 Series. The impedance can widely vary due to the internal components used in the each sensor. The current draw however would be extremely low.

Is the PX359 compatible with Helium?

Asked by: YJSP E
The wetted parts of the PX309/319/329/359 pressure transducers all stainless so media compatibility would not be an issue. The only possible issue the be getting a good seal on the 1/4-18 NPT thread on the process connection when using it with helium. Normally you would use teflon plumber's tape to seal the thread connection

Can the sensor PX213 be used in oxygen enriched environment, e.g. 100% O2 concentration. The question is whether the O2 will be able to enter the electronic part of the sensor or it will be stopped by membrane and if materials are appropriate

Asked by: PAULB
Hello, The PX213 has been discontinued for more than a decade. Please note that the PX213 was not oxygen cleaned or oxygen rated, typically for Oxygen use you will need a sensor that is oxygen cleaned to ensure there is no oil fill/ contaminants that will affect your system. Is it possible to connect multiple pressure transmitters with each of there readout meters into one PC? How to do the cabling and wiring?

Asked by: Ocochem
Assuming that you would be using the 4 to 20mA output version on the PX309 you can simply break the connect of the PX309 and wire the input to the data acquisition you are using with your pc in series with the 4 to 20mA signal from the sensor. If the data acquisition system is designed for a DC voltage input you will need to use a shunt resistor to convert the current signal to voltage.

Can this transducer be used with a 24Vdc power supply?

Asked by: nrebers
Thank you for contacting Omega Engineering with your question. The PX309 series transducers are available several different output types and not all of them can operate on 24 Vdc. If the model in questions has a 0-5 Vdc, 0-10 Vdc, or 4-20 mA output then yes, they can operate on 24 volts. If it is one with a millivolt output, then the excitation voltage would be 5 or 10 Vdc depending on the pressure range. Please feel free to contact us again if you have any other questions.
